Gateway to Neverland Halloween Party For Halloween last year, I planned a Peter Pan themed costume party. The invitations were handmade and said “You are Invited…Fly to Neverland for a Peter Pan, Pirate and Tinkerbell Halloween Costume party. “Think of the happiest things, it’s the same as having wings. You can fly, You can fly, You can fly.” The magic starts at ____ on Saturday ______. Gateway to Neverland- You provide faith and trust, We’ll provide the pixie dust.” I created a beautiful backdrop by hanging up purple satin fabric on a half wall and draping green fabric across the top. I attached beaded flowers and butterflies in the center. I decorated a cinderella pumpkin with glitter and placed tinkerbell stickers and ribbons around the top. I also decorated small pumpkins with yellow flowers attached with pearl colored stick pins and hollowed out some of the pumpkins and placed votive candles inside. I had treasure chests and pirate toys set displayed around the setting. I created a little sign that said Dress up with Tinkerbell and had a little tea party table set up with feather boas and costume jewelry for the girls to dress up for tea. There was a mermaid lagoon set up outside by the pool. The trees were decorated with pink, green and yellow ribbons, bows and flowers. There was a pirate sword fight table set up with swords and captain hook’s. Peter Pan movie played throughout the party in the media room. The cake was ordered from a bakery and had Peter Pan flying around and said “Come Fly with us to Neverland”. Punch bowls were decorated with yellow tulle and flowers. Glitter green candlesticks were used as the centerpiece. Treasure chests and baskets full of candy were set up around the tables. As the guests arrived, they were handed a little bag of fairy dust for them to use. Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Little Michael, The Lost Boys, Pirates, and other fairies all gathered around as Wendy read the story out loud of Captain Hook. Peter Pan handed Wendy a thimble (known also as a kiss) and Wendy handed Peter Pan an acorn after the story was over. Then all the guests gathered around for the Scavenger/ Treasure Hunt. There were little clues typed up on blue paper that gave them hints. The first clue was at the front door listed as the “Gateway to Neverland”. They kept searching for more clues and finally ended up in the backyard and found the huge treasure chest full of pirates gold/silver, treasure and jewels. Little treasure bags were available for them to stuff their treasure into. Next, there was a table set up to decorate their own feather headbands. They played a round of pin the treasure on the map. Even the adults gathered around and had a spin. The lost boys, pirates and Peter Pan gathered around for their sword fights while the girls sat around and had their tea party. It was a very magical and fun night that the children were able to share together. They were still talking about it weeks later.
