The Well-Mannered Guest and Host

The Well-Mannered Guest and Host

With the summer travel season still in its peak there is a good chance that company is coming. So whether we are spending time in someone else’s home or perhaps we have invited others to visit us, it is of utmost importance to be a well mannered guest or host.

The Well Mannered Guest

• Always bring a well thought out gift to the host/hostess.

• Do not eat, drink, smoke, bring a pet, or use anything without asking first.

• Find out immediately where your host wants you to park your vehicle during the daytime and overnight.

• Don’t expect to be waited on.

• Most importantly… do not overstay your welcome and always (always!) send a thank you note after your visit. The Well Mannered Host/Hostess

• Set expectations before guests arrive on details such as length of stay, daily routine, etc.

• Always have the guest’s room ready when they arrive.

• Show your guest around your home and be sure to include information on snacks and drinks, extra blankets and towels, and all electronics including intrusion alarms, computers and remote controls.

• Find out what your guest would like to do while visiting and plan activities with their input.

• Most importantly -- make your guest feel at home. Remember to treat them the way you would want to be treated.
